A Trip To The Bookstore | Booksale in SM Megamall

So I've ran out of things to read because I found myself rereading some novels that I already read so I went to Booksale. Now, the name describes itself. Alot of their books are way cheaper than their usual price and they have books that are pretty popular or some that you've probably never heard of.

I guess the only downside of this bookstore is that they don't carry the complete series of the books (you know, if the book you found is in a series). Some are already has some folds here and there but nothing too tragic.

The space is quite small since people keep going in and out or stopping to read or gather books that they're about to purchase. But I guess that's just a verification that this place does have really good books.

Not gonna lie, I did feel overwhelmed with all the choices but I managed to pick up one book which is "The Lake Of Dreams" by: Kim Edwards for PHP 145 and I'll be reading it in the weekend. But yea, I guess going on a book store is probably one of my favorite things to do. I can't explain why without blabbering too much but I guess it's because I really do like books a lot.

So, when was the last time you've picked up a new book to read or went to a bookstore?

Versace Bright Crystal Perfume Review

Today is my first ever perfume review and in here you will see me attempt to describe scents! So, let's see how that goes..

Price / Where did I get it from?

This was actually a gift from my mom last Christmas (To see the full list of things that I got during Christmas click HERE). But on Versace's online shop the 50ml size costs £ 51.

What do I think about it?

The scent for me is a little fruity and fresh, a little hint of floral and something that makes it bright and girly but not too overpowering. It gives off the very clean feeling and perfect if you wanna go out with practically a ponytail and no makeup because it totally makes up for it.

For longevity, it doesn't last long at all on me and considering I already spray it on my pulse points, it lasts for about 2-3 hours and it's totally gone with no trace whatsoever left from where I sprayed it.

The packaging is breathtaking. It has a gem like cap that has the Versace logo detailed in the middle. It's transparent which lets you see how much product have you used and how much you have left which is a plus for me. The label is (Idk how else to describe it) almost like printed into the bottle because it is pretty scratch proof and won't be removed even if you grip onto it everytime.

Is it worth the money?

With how amazing this smells and if you are the type of person to collect perfumes, this is what I would say will be worth the money. The longevity is the only issue I have on it but the thing that I like about it most is every time I wear this, I got someone telling me I smell great and asking me what perfume do I use.

Disclosure: I am in no way sponsored by any of the brands or companies mentioned in this post. All opinions or statements made towards the product(s) are all based off on my experience.

5 Books I Used To Love // Teen Fiction Novels

These past few days, I've been trying to find some new reads and while I scan my on growing book collection, I noticed some of my old favorites. a.k.a. during the preteen / teenage years. I honestly forgotten some of these book's story lines so I had to reread some of them when I had the time and I decided that I would like to share some of them here because maybe some of you haven't been able to read it yet and would want some suggestions so here they are!

Secrets of my hollywood life
by: Jen Calonita

I have the 3 books and the others I believe I used to have the ebook on my iTouch 4 which I lost years ago so I will have to get those again. I read and loved this when I was 12 or 13 and admired the story so much because once upon a time I wanted to be an actress and this gave me the "inside scoop" or what was the experience of being an A-list actress. I don't really know, I was obsessed with it and it wasn't too cheesy and have started rereading it again, now I'm on the 2nd book.

Fallen series
by: Lauren Kate

Again, 3 books and an ebook which I also lost. This was truly a favorite of mine when I was 15 or 16. A book that has an interesting story line but easy to fall in love with. It's a story about a girl and a boy who is a fallen angel. They spent lifetimes finding and losing each other. This time around, it seems to be different.

Ghost Girl
by: Tonya Hurley

This is a book about a girl who is practically invisible in her school. She doesn't have a lot of friends but she does wanna become popular. One day, she choked on a gummy bear and died. That doesn't stop her from getting what she wants, so she became pretty creative with her tactics. I remember not being able to finish the whole series of this book though, so I will be planning to read everything soon.

Nancy Drew
by: Carolyn Keene

I'm sure that this is one of the most famous teen mystery books out there. A teenage girl detective? Uh, yes please! I only have a few novels but I was pretty addicted to this one the most and I remember having to exchange books with some of my classmates from grade school then we'd discuss what we read or express our reactions to the story, almost like we were in a book club. This book never bored us.

Thirst
by: Christopher Pike

I remember this one to be another one of my favorites during my "mid teenage years". I went through a phase of becoming addicted with vampires and all those things so I got this book and was never disappointed. It's about Alisa a 5000 year old vampire who feeds but does not kill. Her maker hunts for her while she does everything she can to survive. Sometimes, going against her own rules.

Another book that was my favorite but not in my stash (due to moving, I lost it) The Madison Finn Series.
So those are some of my books inside my stash that I haven't read for awhile but remember loving them all so much. I'm slowly rereading them before I get some more new books to get and read.

If you have any recommendations, do not hesitate to tell me ♥

8 Things I Must Do When I Go To The Mall

I am a firm believer that no matter what gender or age you are, you have a routine when you head to the mall. It kinda depends on which mall too but there are habits that you just can't seem to get rid of no matter what mall you're at. Maybe you're even doing something that you aren't even aware that you keep doing. Confused yet? Well, let me give you a hint of what they may be so here are mine:

  • Heading to the Makeup aisle and swatching everything that you can reach.
I would be a liar if I didn't include this here. I am one of those girls who would have loads of colors on their hands and brings makeup remover wipes on her purse. This happens every single time that my brother finds somewhere to sit and wait for me to be done.
  • Eat Ice cream
It doesn't really matter what brand of ice cream it is. I just have to have it. This is my go-to snack because I don't have to worry about taking my retainers out plus it doesn't make a mess. Unless I spill of course.

Snapchat: blissyjojo

  • Check in at Social media
I adopted this habit when I realized that sometimes, friends or people you get along with is at the same place as you are. Happened quite a few times with me and all I could think about was "dang, would've been fun to have met them there". So yea, I check in and if someone wants to hang out then they could meet you.
  • Take Selfies
Seriously though, lighting at the mall is hella nice so I personally couldn't resist taking a snap or 2 or 10. Just remember to not block anyone's way while doing so.

  • Buy bottled water
I do this every single time and you might be thinking why can't I just bring my own water on my purse? Well, I always forget to do so. So, I end up buying one during my mall trip.
  • Go to the bookstore to check out new magazines and books
Ever since I became a blogger, I became really addicted with magazines especially the ones that involves cosmetics or fashion (Cosmo, preview, candy etc.) and then check out the books so I would have something new to add on my list to read or actually get a new read.
  • Checking the price of gadgets I can't afford
Guilty pleasure right here. I like window shopping with gadgets because I'm really curious on how is it different with what I currently have and how much is it and I don't really know but I like testing it out too. And I always end up not buying anything.
  • Order Takeaway
If you are the one who always ends up cooking at home, after a long day of walking around, I just can't get myself to cook anymore. So I order takeaway so I could just sit and eat and be done with the day.

How about you? Do you have "rituals" or must-do when you're at the mall? I can't possibly be the only one right.... right?

One Month Smoke Free | What It Feels Like & How I Quitted Smoking.

OH YES! Today is finally the day when I am proud to say that I am 1 month smoke free, 1 month without the cigs and 1 month of my life being turned the way I wanted it to be. Of course, this is just the start so I will tell you how I managed to quit and how I am continuing to quit as time goes by.

The Symptoms or what most people think ex-smokers experience, Let's debunk it.

Snacking / Gaining weight.

Yes its true what they say about snacking quite alot or gaining weight once you stop smoking. For me, it has been snacking that I always feel the need to do. And because I was sick while I was quitting, I did have a huge appetite. Although, quitting to smoke had a huge part in it since I was finding other things to do especially when I'm just sitting down.

Stressed, Anxiety or Just completely snapping.

I hate to admit this but yes, it was pretty extreme for me. I had times where I would just completely be anxious all day and then I'd snap at somebody for no apparent reason and eventhough I know that I was in the wrong, I would not accept it and then that leads to even larger arguments. Lucky for me, I got over it and did my best to deflate the situation before it got out of control. After that, it never happened again except for little arguments here and there which are considered pretty normal.

Cravings.

There are times where I would wanna give in and just smoke but I think this is because I have the cravings whenever I do something that I used to do as I smoke. So, experiencing to do those things again without a cigarette in my hand was an adjustment. But honestly, it isn't that bad. Its like having the thought of wanting to have a drag but then once I focus on something else, I just immediately forget about it and go about my day. Not at all what I expected and I really thought that this would be my number 1 issue which surprisingly is not.

Not being able to sleep.

This I think depends on the person, because for me, I didn't really have problems with sleeping but it's the dreams that get to me. I have all sorts of weird dreams ever since I quit. And I had a couple of dreams where I was smoking and whenever I would wake up, I thought that I cheated but then I realize that I was just dreaming and was asleep the whole time. And no, I don't sleep walk and I didn't smell like smoke. That happened for awhile but not that often anymore.

The benefits I had with being smoke free.

I smell great.

I smelled fine before since I of course take showers and have a deep love for perfumes, but now, I don't smell like smoke. Being a smoker before, I never ever got used to the smell of smoke and really hated it. So I guess this is the best part of me not smoking anymore.

I don't spend alot anymore.

Seriously though, cigarette prices are crazy expensive. I don't even know how I managed to get myself some each day. But now, I find that I could use the money for other things.

I get to focus more.

Alot of the times as I was smoking, I used it as a distraction and a coping mechanism whenever I'm stressed. But now, I think that I am forced to just face it and get it over with. I feel that if I finish it or deal with the matter faster, then I wouldn't have to stress about it no matter the outcome. It is a practice for my anxiety too since it was getting quite bad awhile back. And hey, less procrastinating for me.

I feel that I have more time for other things.

I know that smoking only lasts about 2-5 minutes but I don't know why I feel that I have all this time in my hands and I can multitask and stuff. Maybe I'm bored or getting impatient with the fact that I'm not smoking, but I guess that 2-5 minutes of your day does make a difference. I don't notice it now though but during the first few days, it did felt like a long day.

I don't have to skip around the conversation of smoking.

Everytime I meet new people or even just in blogging, I always avoided the topic of smoking because I was not at all proud of it. I hated that I'm probably the only beauty blogger smoking (maybe not, but I do feel like it) or atleast, most of the girls that I know who are doing the same things and same age as me isn't smoking at all. It isn't really about the need to fit in, but I keep seeing and asking why did smoking became a necessity for me? Which eventually I accepted as another reason why I should quit because I couldn't find any other acceptable answer.

What alternatives did I do to get myself to quit smoking

Blogging

I focused on what I want my blog to become, made all sorts of social media platforms just for it and also planning it all out like my posts, my photos and making good friends / connections with people sharing the same passion as me.

Going out alot

I really couldn't stay home long enough during the first week. I keep finding errands to do or people to go to which is hard and expensive (hello transportation fees). And explains why I had quite alot of hauls these past few posts.

I played alot with my looks

Especially with my hair. I know that any hair guru / stylist will cringe when I say this, but I bleached my hair for almost every week while I was quitting to smoke until I got the color that I wanted (which I still don't have at the moment) and will have to tone it to get it color corrected. Also, hairstyles like doing braids I never thought I could do and also experimenting with a new skin care routine, so if it works out well, I guess I'll be making skin care routine posts soon!

I did not use any smoking method / alternatives like the nicotine patch or candy and I think that it's working out quite fine. I have read about other people's experience while trying to quit and comparing it to mine, I'm thankful and admire those who are having a harder time but is still continuing to fight.

So that is it for my celebratory post and I do plan to never smoke again and hopefully I will be able to achieve it because I was in a very bad position when I started to smoke. It was all for the wrong reasons that I cannot believe that I let it get through me so bad and it wasn't just because I wanted to impress my friends, or be in the "in" crowd, it was a much deeper reason for me and I do not want that to continue to ruin me. One month of being smoke free is a huge deal for me because like what most people say, "it only takes 30 days to start a new habit". I admit that it doesn't get easier, for now I do have the cravings but they are quite mild that it often goes unnoticed. I'm proud of myself for trying my best and continuing to do so, not just for me but for the people around me. I'm happy that my friends and family understands and loves me even if I was a smoker and now an ex-smoker.

Also a side note, I do not have anything against smokers, I have friends that are smokers and still smokes even while I'm around which isn't a problem for me. If it did bother me, I would speak up. This is just a post to celebrate and also to remind me of a simple milestone that I worked hard for and also because I don't often see people go into too much detail about the experience which I think is pretty important as it is there to inspire other people who are going through the same thing you did. I didn't plan any rewards other than my own health which I am already satisfied. So thank you for reading and if you are also on your journey to quit smoking, do comment, message or tweet me if you have any more questions and remember that I am cheering for you! If I can do it, you can do it too. It is never too late.

ORLY Matte Topcoat Nail Polish Review

Hello everybody! Today I will be talking about one of my latest purchase and it is the ORLY Matte Topcoat Nail Polish. I have never owned an ORLY Nail Polish in general so this will be my first try of their product and let's see how it'll go..

Item Description: Matte it up! Turn regular glossy nail lacquer to a unique matte finish. Ideal for creating unique nail art and spot varnished nail looks. Directions: Apply one or two coats over your favorite ORLY nail lacquer for a matte look.

Price: P499.75 ($10.91) and I got it at the SM Department Store at SM Megamall.

What I think of this product?
I have been addicted to matte nails ever since last year but when I always buy matte polishes, there are only limited colors and I get sick of repeating nail colors all the time so when I saw this at the department store the last time I went, I just know that I had to get it because with this, I could turn all of my nail polishes matte on my nails.

In the directions, I think that it recommends using ORLY nail polishes that are not matte but I used my #25 on the Play collection nail polish from Etude House just to give it a try if it would work on other brands too, and the #25 has been my favorite this month, and when I finished applying it, I let it dry for about 5-7 minutes then applied 1 coat of the ORLY Matte Topcoat and it took awhile for it to dry but when it did, it lessened the shine of the nail polish that I used underneath and then I applied another coat and it did turn it completely matte so I think that I am satisfied.

The smell of this product is what I'm not a fan of. It smells like the usual dizzying scent that nail polishes have, I do wish that this would be unscented but I rarely encounter any nail polishes that are actually unscented or have a bearable smell.

Is it worth the money?
For the price, I do think that it is quite expensive for a nail polish because I am used to paying P15 - P200 ($0.33 - $4.37) for a single polish, so it surprised me that this costed so much. Although I do gotta say that I am satisfied with the results and I'm sure that I would use this for a very long time until I run out or it dries out (which I rarely have nail polishes that dry because I keep some of them on the fridge to keep it from drying out). So yes, I do think that if you are looking for something that would make all your nail polishes look matte on your nails, then you should definitely get this.

So that is my review for this lovely topcoat and I hope that you have found this useful or if you already tried it or you could give me cheaper alternatives or you want me to try some other products then leave a comment down below and I'll also try and answer your questions as much as I can. I will also be doing a few more product reviews for this coming days so stay tuned for that one!

Thanks for reading and until the next blog!

The Liebster Award

Hello ladies and gents! Welcome back to my blog and if you're new here, hello I'm Joyce and today I will be talking to you guys about a certain award that I was tagged / nominated to. I very much agreed to the person who included me on her nominees that this is a good way of getting to know more about bloggers who share the same passion as you. Whether we share the same niche or not, it is our job to be part of the ongoing blogging community.

Alright, So I'm assuming that most of you have heard of the "Liebster Award". I wasn't quite familiar with this until I was tagged so I will brief what it's about. So this is from Wording Well, (I took a screenshot of it)

So that's what this award is all about and I will be nominating bloggers who have caught my attention with their passion or just their lovely personalities that I would really love to get to know more of. (Hi there! I'm a fan of yours!) And without further ado, let's get started.

11 Random Facts About Myself:

1. I secretly love being part of a competition. I always feel that if I am good enough to be part of it, then I have a chance of winning.
2. I am a chatterbox. I would talk to you about almost anything once you start talking to me. I never had this trait or personality before. As I grew up, I just started developing it maybe because I got tired of being referred to as the "quiet one".
3. I remember modeling for a clothing brand when I was really young, although I can't remember what it was.Would have to ask my mom about that.
4. I will probably be one of the most stubborn person that you will ever meet. If you say I can't do it or I must not do it, as long as I know that I won't harm or hurt anyone then I would most likely do it just to prove you otherwise. A thing that saved and got me to trouble most of the time.
5. I always go over the top when someone expects or ask me to do something for them. I don't know why I do it, but when you trust me with something, I do my best to not disappoint.
6. I have a secret talent with remembering phone numbers. Once someone tells me their number vocally, even just once. I'd remember it for quite a long time. I don't even try and remember it, It just happens. Something that came handy in sticky situations and saved my butt for countless of times.
7. I am one of those people who are very sentimental of their belongings. Most of the things I own are either gifted by special people in my life or have a great meaning to me.
8. I am a firm believer that if someone really wants you, they will come back on their own. Its like trying out a new restaurant, whether you like their food or not, you will keep coming back because of the fact that you know that they have so much more to offer rather than what you'll usually prefer. It intrigues you and actually compels you to try again.
9. I will take about 29 selfies and deletes 30 of them, if that makes sense. Although I'm sure it does for those who love taking selfies like me.
10. I've learned this the hard way a few years ago and I swear by it, in order for an ideal relationship to happen between 2 people, learn to feel for two people rather than just one. Whenever someone asks me for love advice, this is all what I say to them all the time.
11. Today was actually the very first time I dyed my own hair and also the first time I colored my hair when it is long. I usually have short colored hair and if my hair's long, I don't bother coloring it anymore, a habit that I would wanna change starting today all because I love coloring my hair, it expresses myself more.

Phew! 11 facts about me done and probably one of the hardest things for me to do is describing myself (should have included that in the list). So before I list down the nominees, here are the rules and also would guide you if you are new to this tag / award:

1. Favorite Past Time?
♥ My favorite past time would have to be gaming or reading. Any of those two will entertain me for the whole day no matter the weather or if I'm sick or not (lol).

2.Who is your celebrity crush?
♥ My celebrity crush would have to be Ryan Gosling. He just has this appeal that would make you feel that you are the prettiest girl if he ever lays eyes on you. Well, he doesn't know I exist but I could only assume that its a possibility for that to happen. He is just gorgeous!

3. If you had to pick one fruit to eat for your whole life, what would it be?
♥ Bananas hands down. It is soft and it worked well for me having my braces and I never get tired of it's taste.

4. Would you rather sky-dive or go bungee-jumping on a towering cliff?
♥ My goodness that's hard. I'd wanna do both honestly. But if I had to choose just one then I'd go sky-dive. I'm always fascinated by the idea and my friend's posting their pictures doing it and it just encourages me to really go and try it.

5. What is your favorite feature on yourself?
♥ My favorite feature would have to be my mole on my left cheek (my left xD). I honestly used to really hate it because of how often I get teased for having one. As I grew up I just felt like it became an asset and a way to easily distinguish me from other girls. In other words, helps me to feel unique.

6. If you were given an opportunity to go to the moon, would you?
♥ Well first I'd make sure that I would be able to go back,  then I definitely would.

7. If you were offered P1,000 / $1,000, which clothing / beauty brand will you go to shop first?

8. Would you rather eat a lizard or a cockroach (this is appalling I know! hahahaha)
♥ I'd go for lizard. I don't know why I chose that I just feel like I would if it comes down to it. xD

9. What was your most embarrassing moment?
♥ My most embarrassing moment, I have quite a ton of these that It'll take me a moment to respond. (After 10 minutes and reading an old journal) I think that it is when I was a freshmen in high school, I was walking out of the school and I saw this senior guy that I had a crush on. We've been talking for awhile and became close friends, I saw him wave and I wave back while still walking. Not noticing that there's a 2-step stairs infront of me, I missed it and tripped while having my crush have a full view of what happened. I got up and saw him laughing. Although it is quite funny to me now, but I would really not want to experience it ever again.

10. If you could eat at any restaurant for one whole year, what would it be?
♥ Shakeys o.o! I am so comfortable in this restaurant that when I go out, I always find myself eating at this place. Probably one of my guilty pleasures.

Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick "Patina" Review

So yesterday, me and my brother went to Shangri-la Rustan's just to get this lipstick. I've seen this all over youtube, weheartit and also from other bloggers. Everyone just loved it so much and I decided I wanted it in my life since from what I've seen, this color looks great on everybody. So when we got to the stila stall there, (I almost couldn't find it since the space was a tad too small and it was in the far corner) "Patina" wasn't on display, I asked for it and lucky me, they had 1 last stock left. It was reserved for someone but they didn't picked it up on their suppose deadline so yea, I got it!

The size of this product is 0.10 FL.OZ. / OZ. LIQ. / 3 ml and this would really take a long time for me to finish but not too big and not too small and works well if you're putting it on your bag or make up kit when you're traveling or just heading out.

Item Description:

A creamy-matte, full coverage lip color that delivers bold, long lasting color and stays in place for up to 6 hours of continuous wear.

The texture is weightless on lips and delivers superb comfort and its color-rich formula will not bleed or transfer.

Enriched with vitamin E and avocado oil, Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick softens the lips so they look and feel beautiful!

Price:

P1,250 which is $27.71. Yep a lot more expensive compared to other countries which only costs them $22 which is P992.53. I got it at Shangri-la Rustan's.

What I think of this product?

To be completely honest, I was having 2nd thoughts on actually buying this at first because besides the fact that it is pricey, my lips are very dry and I thought that this product wouldn't look good on me. Well, I was wrong, even if I didn't apply lipbalm and just put it in, it actually moisturizes my lips but it doesn't feel sticky which is what actually sold me on getting it.

Like from what I said above, I am loving this shade so much! It's so beautiful and kind of reminds me what most hollywood celebs are actually wearing now like Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner. It actually smells really good too like no hint of chemical smell whatsoever. Fragrant but not overpowering that would make you feel dizzy so that is another +1 for it.

The cons on this product would have to be it's application. It is indeed pretty messy so do start at the middle part of your lips and so on. Another thing is it sinks in to the lines on your lips and the kiss test, well for me that didn't really work for I don't know what reason but even if it does leave a little mark on me, the color on my lips doesn't fade and having to wear it all day yesterday, I think it is long lasting on your lips.

Is it worth the money?

Yes, It is beautiful and definitely worth the investment. If you're the type to like wearing matte lipsticks then you should go ahead and try this. I do think Patina is the best but then again, another color I had my eye on was Aria but it wasn't on stock. The lady who assisted me told me that Beso, Patina and Aria are always the ones out of stock because it's what people are always buying from them. So if you're Stila stores accepts reservations whenever they restock, do reserve as soon as possible if you ever think of getting it because like I said, it sells out fast!

So I guess that's it for this product, All in all I think I would consider this one of my holy grail lipsticks now. I hope that this has helped you if you are looking into getting this product or if you're just curious about it. Do comment below if you have any other products you suggest me to try out that you'd think I would like or if you have similar or different experience after using this product.
